One of my favorite parts about the Superbowl each year is the plethora of brand new advertisement campaigns. While watching various commericial’s Amazons appealed the msot to myelf. The commercial was titled #BeforeAlexa and portrayed what life would be like without the Amazon’s Alexa product. For those that do not know Amazon Alexa is a virtual assistant AI developed by Amazon. Alexa can be used for a variety of every day tasks including voice interaction, music playback, and many other functions. This commericial is a marketing piece fo art. The start of the ad features Ellen Degeneres using Alexa to adjust the thermostat. She next asks “What do you think people did before Alexa?”. The rest of the commericial features people from different time periods struggling without the luxury of having an Alexa. A few examples in the ad display a Queen asking a jester to tell her a joke, a man asking what the news is, and a woman asking a hoaming pidgeon to deliver a message. Unfortunately all these featured individuals never have their request fulfileld because Alexa is before their time.
